ABOUT THE PROJECT
While we assessed the online interfaces and advertisements of Bátortábor with deep analytics, we observed a surprising trend. People are fundamentally prone to giveing money to charity. However, they only do so when directly given a chance to contribute to a benevolent cause.
Our major challenge was to find a way to direct the attention of potential donors towards our client’s cause even outside festive periods and attract contributors on an everyday basis. The donors we intended to engage are dedicated to the cause of our client, shop online regularly, and positioned in the 18-55 age range. Hence, we asked ourselves, how could we offer opportunities to these philanthropists to give on a more regular basis?
Furthermore, how could we inspire individuals who may be browsing online with no charitable acts in mind to become donors themselves? While looking for a solution, we realized that there are countless small, yet essential items we buy regularly, so why not turn these everyday purchases into small charitable acts too? Why not offer people the opportunity to buy the product they are looking for online in the webshop of Bátortábor? This way, not only a simple notebook or a water bottle could represent a good cause but also create a new opportunity for altruism.
Therefore, we developed a browser extension, which tracks users’ behavior in real-time and updates itself continuously while monitoring searches, and accordingly evolving in the process. A complex algorithm recognizes if a visitor is planning to purchase an item that is also available in the webshop of Bátortábor, in which case it draws attention to the possibility of buying a BT product. In a nutshell, this is how the Bátor Browser was born. With this data-driven solution the user instantly sees if a certain product is available at our client’s webshop and buy the BT product with one click, but most importantly do a charitable act.
The Bátor Browser offers alternative BT products for nearly 30 everyday items. This idea was widely appreciated by the philanthropic sector. Therefore, thanks to the success of this plug-in we since negotiated with other non-profit organizations about the possibility of doing similar projects together. Yet, what matters to us above all are those joyful moments we were able to give children in need. Therefore, we firmly believe that the Bátor Browser is a great answer to the initial challenge of integrating small charitable acts into everyday life.
